About Full contact Anglers

I’m Ian Nowicki, and Full Contact Anglers is my fly fishing company, built around the same things I care about on the water: honest conditions, good flies, and showing up ready for whatever the river is doing that day.

What I love most about fly fishing is that there’s no single “right way” to do it. No fixed rules, and no way to ever know it all. The water is always changing, no day the same, no hour the same, every bend a new challenge. For me, reading the water and fishing it hard is a full contact sport. Picking a fly and how to fish it, is an art and a science. I tend to believe an element of both analysis and gut feeling to be equally as important. If you can meld them together, it's deadly. 

Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to learn from, train with, and compete against some of the best fly tiers and anglers in the world. That path shaped how I fish, how I tie, and how I share the craft.

A core part of this site is the free River Flows dashboard. I built it because I wanted one clean place to check streamflow, water temp, and weather on the waters that matter — without ads, paywalls, or five agency tabs before dawn. It stays free on purpose. Conditions intel shouldn’t be locked up when you’re trying to decide whether to drive. I am a software engineer by trade and a fly fisherman at heart, so the flows page is the perfect amalgam of my two finest skills.
