South Platte River Flows
Share
The South Platte is the river most Colorado anglers check first. Cheesman Canyon, Deckers, and the Dream Stream all fish off the same drainage, and the flow tells you which stretch is worth the drive.
A normal day on the South Platte below Cheesman runs roughly 100 to 300 cfs. Below that it gets technical and the fish get picky. Above 400 it pushes and the wade gets hard. The Dream Stream likes it lower, often under 150, and it blows out fast when the upstream reservoirs release.
Water temp matters as much as the flow. The canyon stays cold. The lower river warms by July. If the temp is climbing past 65, fish early or go higher.
