Madison River Flows
Share
The Madison is the river people drive to Montana for. Cameron, Ennis, and below Ennis Lake are the three numbers that matter, and they do not always move together.
A normal day near Cameron runs roughly 800 to 1,200 cfs. The wade water thins when it drops under 700. Above 1,500 it is a boat. Ennis Lake smooths the lower river, so the water below the lake can be steady when the upper river is bouncing.
The Madison warms. By late July the temp can push past 65 in the afternoon, and the fishing moves to the morning. Check the temp before you commit to the day.
