Colorado Snowpack
Share
Snowpack is the water that has not reached the river yet. The number that matters is not how deep the snow is. It is how much water is in it, and how that compares to a normal year.
The Full Contact Anglers snowpack page tracks the basins that feed the rivers you fish. The South Platte, the Arkansas, the Colorado, the Gunnison, and the basins that feed them. Each card shows the snow water equivalent in inches, the percent of the 1991 to 2020 median when there is enough snow to compare, and the curve for this year against last year and the median.
A low year means the freestone rivers drop early and the tailwaters carry the season. A high year means the freestones stay up into July. Check the basins in April and May before you book the trips.
