Arkansas River Flows

The Arkansas fishes from Leadville to Pueblo, and the number changes the whole river. Wellsville, Canon City, and the Pueblo tailwater are different rivers on the same day.
A fishable day on the Arkansas through the canyon is often 300 to 700 cfs. Under 250 it gets bony and the fish stack in the deep slots. Over 1,000 it is a float. The tailwater below Pueblo holds lower and steadier, often 200 to 500, and it fishes when the canyon is blown.
The upper river near Leadville runs small and cold. It is the first to drop in a dry year and the first to ice. Watch the temp as much as the flow once July hits.
